The great professional level of Croatian firefighters and rescuers make us hope that they may join the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers.

The International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers was founded in 2001 in order to popularize the firefighters and rescuers sport and to promote its international development.

This new kind of sport has its origin in professional exercises of firefighters and rescuers.

Today it can be seen like a beautiful athletic show, great sportive event, demanding high professional and physical ability.

That is also the kind of sport which promotes the image of the heroic duty of firefighters and rescuers.

Already 19 countries are represented in the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers (ISFFR). And firemen and service organizations from some more states are in process of joining.

The ISFFR, in collaboration with national fire and rescue services and organizations, under support of state and local authorities and communities, holds regularly international competitions.

Also the competition in fire-applied sport has been included into the Program of the XXVII Worldwide Summer Universiade in Kazan-city (Tatarstan, Russia, 2013).

And we have reasons to hope that fire and rescuers sport will be advanced into the Olympic Games Program.

At the present time the preparations for the II Worldwide Championship in Fire and Rescue Sports among juniors and the I Worldwide Competition in Fire-Applied Sports among students are to be finished. These tournaments will take place in St.-Petersburg in June 25-30, 2011.

And I have a pleasure to invite representatives of fire and rescue services and authorities from Croatia to visit the VII Worldwide Championship in Firefighters and Rescuers Sport in Cottbus, Germany (http://www.feuerwehr-cottbus.de/fs_feuerwehrsport.html).

It will take place since August, 31 till September, 5, 2011.

Exhibitions of fire equipment are conducted while every competition. So we welcome firms, suppliers and manufacturers not to miss such good opportunity to promote themselves and to sponsor fire-applied sports.

We shall be really glad if our Croatian colleagues will get involved into the ISFFR activities aiming further consolidation of firefighting and rescuing service all over the world.

From its side the Executive Committee of the ISFFR is ready to provide assistance by all means for Croatian representatives to join the Federation.

With that purpose the Executive Committee of the ISFFR is ready to provide official information letters and invitations from the President of the ISFFR, the Minister of the Russian Federation on affairs of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters Mr. Sergey Shoygu.
